LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police have arrested 27-year-old Michael Miguel for shooting and killing his 18-year-old brother in a northeast Las Vegas neighborhood.

The shooting was reported Friday just after 8 a.m. in the 3900 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North which is between Nellis and Lamb boulevards.

When officers arrived at the scene, the 18-year-old male was found dead in a trailer.

Police investigation indicates that the victim had been in a verbal altercation with Miguel before Miguel shot him during the argument and then called police.

During an earlier news briefing, Metro Lt. David Valenta said two shots were fired from a shotgun and that one person was detained, but that it was too early to say whether the person was a suspect.

Miguel was taken into custody and was transported to the Clark County Detention Center where he was booked for open murder.

The identification and cause and manner of death of the victim will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
