Arkansas man made several threats in Las Vegas, police say
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A white man accused of accelerating his car and yelling at a group of Black individuals in what Las Vegas Metro police called a racial-motivated fight that left the suspect stabbed faces new charges connected to a threat to kill Black people in a mass shooting, documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained said.
Hunter Holman, 27, faces several hate-related crimes for several incidents, documents said.
On July 9, Metro police responded to a reported stabbing near the Marriot Grand Chateaux on East Harmon Avenue near the Las Vegas Strip. A witness said he saw a man, later identified as Holman, driving a car on Harmon Avenue and yelling “racial slurs to a group of Black people” that were walking on the sidewalk, officers said.
For that incident, Holman is charged with assault with the use of a deadly weapon motivated by bias or hatred toward victim [sic], and child abuse or neglect, records showed.
Last week, authorities in Arkansas notified Metro police about Holman allegedly threatening Black people with an AR-15 at a fitness center in Little Rock, documents said.
Documents reveal investigators believe Holman is suspected of making several racially motivated threats since at least last summer.
In June, Holman allegedly made threats to a former employer, using a racial slur and threats of death, documents said.
Then in July, police said a man stabbed Holman in the racist attack to protect his family, documents said. Surveillance video of the incident showed Holman accelerating at the group, getting out of his car and charging at the “group of people,” police said. Police arrested Holman on July 29, they said. He denied using any racial slurs and said, “he was having a bad day,” documents said.
In February 2023, detectives believe Holman called a hotel, threatening to kill a person with his rifle, police said. While investigators were speaking with the victim at the hotel, Holman reportedly called.
“The caller immediately called [the employee] [an] [expletive] and stated he was the grand master,” police said.
Investigators found a second hotel where Holman reportedly stayed in the Las Vegas area, adding an employee there told Homan left a goat head in the freezer with an “extensive collection of knives,” police said. The employee also said Holman “invited [the employee] to join his group, stating he is the king of the KKK.”
“Based on Holman’s course of conduct, it is apparent he displayed hate/bias toward people of color, specifically Black subjects, and has demonstrated the ability to carry violence against them demonstrated by his attack in July 2022,” detectives wrote in the documents.
Metro police arrested Holman on Thursday, Feb. 23, records showed. He declined to answer officers’ questions.
Holman faces two new charges of hate/bias crime, records showed. He paid a surety bond and was released from custody.
