LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Clark County grand jury is expected to indict four teenagers accused of beating a Rancho High School classmate to death in November.
Damien Hernandez, 17; Gianni Robinson, 17; Dontral Beaver, 16; and Treavion Randolph, 16, are four of eight teenagers accused in the death of 17-year-old Jonathan Lewis. They are the only defendants who were certified out of the juvenile system to the adult system.
The fight that escalated to death allegedly began over stolen items. Video of the beating showed Lewis on the ground with a group of teens kicking and punching him. The coroner listed his cause of death as complications of multiple blunt-force injuries.
The judge outlined conditions as the following:
- $100,000 cash surety bond
- If bail is posted, house arrest
Gabriel Grasso, who represents Beaver, said the four have been moved into the “juvenile part” of the Clark County Detention Center, pending their families posting bail.
“They’re having a little bit of a hard time getting the money together, but it looks like they may be able to do it,” Grasso told media after the court appearances. “That’s why I don’t want to say, ‘Yeah, he’ll be getting out,’ because that’s up to the family getting the money together.”
The indictment from the grand jury is expected to be returned on Friday. Hernandez has posted bond, while the other three teens remain in custody.
