LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The son of “Pawn Stars” personality Rick Harrison died of a fentanyl overdose, the TV show lead told the New York Post Monday.

According to the report, Adam Harrison, 39, died from an overdose of the addictive substance. News broke of Harrison’s death on Friday. At the time, the Harrison family released a statement saying, in part, “Our family is extremely saddened by the death of Adam.” No details on Harrison’s death were revealed at that time. However, TMZ initially reported his death as an overdose.

Rick Harrison confirmed to the New York Post that a fentanyl overdose caused his son’s death.

“The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously,” Harrison said to The Post. “It seems it is just flowing over the borders and nothing is being done about it. We must do better.”

The TV show, which first broadcast in 2009, focuses on the Harrisons’ “Gold & Silver Pawn Shop,” located on the Las Vegas Strip, north of Charleston Boulevard. Adam Harrison is not featured on the show.
